Beating off stiff competition
from the other short-listed nominees, Cadbury Schweppes and Royal
Bank of Scotland, Tom Fairfax was first on the podium to receive
his award from Rory Bremner at the 2004 Business Continuity Awards
ceremony in recognition of his "immense endeavours as a business
continuity planner at the start of the second Gulf War."
Judges Unanimous
The judges were unanimous in awarding InfoSec Associates this accolade
which is designed to "recognise operational risk and continuity
management which crosses international and sector boundaries".
The award is for the organization or individual regarded as "most
proactively highlighting and reducing the identified operational
risks as part of a continuity programme".
Tom Fairfax, and James Royds hav been working in the risk management
industry since 1995. Their expertise has been influenced by their
experiences in the military in which they have served in both the
Regular and Territorial Armies. They first met in the Newcastle
Business School at Northumbria University and discovered a common
interest in digital risk management. Their dynamic approach to this
important discipline has been shaped by two Gulf Wars and many assignments
with a growing number of leading UK companies.
In 2002, they linked up with Dave Dowling from First Base Training
to found InfoSec Associates, a risk management practice focused
on helping clients to manage the risks associated with today's business
environment.
